Pic of the Week 7-28-08
Here is a factory pic, number 81441. This picture was taken at the Scranton Branch which was located off of Providence Street. I believe you can see Weston Field in the background. This pic was given to me by Jim Morrel of Morells towing in Scranton. He was picking up a '38 Chrysler that I had in my garage. I fixed some wiring issues with it and he can with the owner to pick it up. After showing him my 155W and my collection of parts trucks, he mentioned he had a picture I would like... So here it is...
The truck is a '49-52 154WHS. The model is noted on the back of the pic but there are a few distinguishable features on this truck that help identify it as a 154WHS... For more info on 154WHS check out the cut sheet on HUSKIDRIVE.com.
- The truck has a long hood like a 260 but has fenders like a 100 series. This is because it has a 513 overhead valve Continental in it instead of a flathead (427..) The 513 is the same external size as the 572 used in the 260's, etc.
- Check out the location of the headlights. They are low on the frame like 155W and 255W's, not on the fenders. Check out how the grill guard is notched to let the headlights shine through. This grill guard is a variation from the first one in my grill guard post.
- This truck has the large cab with the 3 piece windshield and the wood moulding on the door. Notice how it is painted white and they continued the white along the body line on the side and back of the cab. This is similar to the Hewey truck that as pic of the week two 2 weeks ago.
